Sewer scopes is an inspection involving a camera inserted into the clean-out of the home through the sewer lateral to the city main. Pictures and video will bring to light any issues involving the condition of the line. Common issues are tree root intrusion, cracks, blockages and total collapse. A sewer scope is not covered in a standard home inspection but can be added on for an additional fee or as a standalone service.
